Michigan State OL Transfer Picks Up WVU Offer
USA TODAY Sports

West Virginia reached out to Michigan State offensive line transfer Geno VanDeMark Tuesday evening. Arkansas, Boston College, and Oklahoma have also sent out offers to the former Spartan.

VanDeMark appeared in ten games and started two games at right guard as a redshirt freshman in 2022, helping lead into a full-time starting role at the position this season.

The Mountaineers will return three, technically four starters along the offensive line next season - LT Wyatt Milum, LG Tomas Rimac and Brandon Yates/Ja'Quay Hubbard who have each started several games at multiple spots along the line. The biggest hole West Virginia has to fill is Zach Frazier's spot at center. Brandon Yates is a candidate to move inside, opening up starting spot at right guard where VanDeMark and Hubbard could compete for playing time. Yates was the one who quickly filled in for Frazier on the game-winning drive at Baylor and had no issues snapping or in pass protection.

VanDeMark did visit West Virginia back in February of 2020 and already has an established relationship with offensive line coach Matt Moore. Coming out of high school in 2021, VanDeMark was viewed as one of the top linemen in the state of New Jersey and also held offers from Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Kansas, Louisville, Maryland, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Pitt, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and several others.

He has two years of eligibility remaining.
